Our last Super Tuesday Bible Study of 2016 was last week. We will resume our weekly bible studies on Tuesday, January 9, 2017. Start the New Year off right and join us at 5:30pm for dinner ($5 per person), 6:30pm for our group study, and 7:30pm for our Women’s, Men’s and Children’s studies.

The GLCC Care Team is again teaming up with Evelyn Mount this holiday season. We will be giving away 11 Christmas food baskets to families that are in need. If you are interested, please see Min. Doris after church in the foyer to complete the necessary form. Baskets will be given away on a first come first served basis.

The Hospitality ministry is in need of a volunteer(s) for the 4th Sunday of each month, to set up for the visitors. If you are interested in volunteering please see Brother Stanley Pierce or Sister Taylor. The volunteer(s) can be a couple or a single person.

World AIDS Day Program will be held Thursday, December 1st from 7- 9pm at N.N.HOPES; 580 West 5th Street in Reno in the 3rd Floor Community room. Dinner will be served at 7:15pm, our choir will be singing at approximately 8:45pm and Pastor Taylor will pray the closing prayer at 8:55pm. All are invited to attend to see why World AIDS Day is important to commemorate and how far we have come from the 80’s. For more information, see flyer is posted in the vestibule or call Sister at 775-786-5886. All Members, Ministers and Leaders are asked to attend to show your support for ACCEPT. Please wear something red if possible.

Jody Lykes from Alpha-Phi-Alpha Fraternity (UNR) will present the Project Alpha program to our teen boys in Youth Church next Sunday, December 4th at 11:00 am. The Project Alpha program provides education for young males 12-15 years old on sexuality, fatherhood and the role of males in relationships. If you do not wish your son (grandson) to attend this meeting, please keep them in “Big” church on Sunday, December 4th. If you want to know more about the program, please see Sister Taylor or call her at 775-786-5886 and she can send you the PowerPoint presentation.

A.A.C.C.O.N.N. (African American Clergy Council of Northern Nevada) will be recognizing the service and dedication of our own Senior Pastor Glenn E. Taylor, Sr. You don’t want to miss this well-deserved occasion for our Pastor. All are asked to attend on Sunday, December 4th at 3pm right here at GLCC.

Christmas and New Year’s Day 2016 both fall on Sundays, so GLCC will only have one (1) service on those days. Join us at 10am on Christmas Day and 10am on New Year’s Day for our morning service.

The annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Essay Contest presented by NNBCAS is now taking entries! Scholarships will be awarded to the winners: College – $500, High School – $400, Middle School – $250, Elementary (4th – 6th grades) – $75, and Elementary (1st – 3rd grades) – $25. If you are interested, please see the flyer in the vestibule. All entries must be received no later than January 2, 2017.
